Participants get to take classes based on their prior stage combat experience and education. In all classes, emphasis is put on combining safety, artistic value and technique. In addition, participants occasionally tend to have fun.
There will be five classes/time slots each day. The first three will contain weapons and training for the NSFS certification system and will be chosen for the entire workshop. The last two classes each day will be open classes, at which the participants can choose between several options of weapons and teachers. All classes are taught in English.
The nine weapons in the NSFS certification system are divided into three blocks with three weapons in each block. Block 1 contains single rapier, broadsword, and unarmed combat. Block 2 focuses on two handed weapons and contains quarterstaff, rapier & dagger, and sword & shield. Block 3 focuses on weapons with smaller target areas and stylized movement and contains knife, smallsword, and theatrical martial arts.
In addition, the summer workshop have two additional blocks, the beginner block for those with none or little previous training, and the advanced training block for those who have passed tests in the nine NSFS weapons.
When registering for the workshop, you need to choose which classes to take for the three certification time slots. If you are chosing classes with participation and/or test requirements, you will need to list your fulfillment of the requirements when registering. If you have any questions regarding the requirements and whether your prior training and tests fulfill them, please contact us at email@example.com and we will help you out. Note that it’s allowed to both re-take a class and re-test a weapon that you’ve already passed a test in.
