Courses


Students can choose a course level based on their prior stage combat experience and education.

On all course levels, an emphasis is put on combining safety, artistic value and technique.

When in doubt of a suitable level for you, please contact us at nsfssummerworkshop@gmail.com, and we will help you to find your level. If applying for a level above beginner you will need to list your training.

 

BEGINNER

Classes: Unarmed combat, broadsword, single rapier.

The beginner course is an introductory level for the participant who has little or no previous experience in stage combat. It is the entry point into the NSFS certification system.

BLOCK 1

Classes: Unarmed combat, broadsword, single rapier.

The course is for participants who have at least 15 hours of previous training with the block 1 weapons before the workshop. The participant can choose to take NSFS certification tests for the weapons at the end of the course.

BLOCK 2

Classes: Quarterstaff, sword and shield, rapier and dagger.

The course focuses on two-handed weapons. Participants that has passed tests in all block 1 weapons and with at least 15 hours of previous training with block 2 weapons before the workshop can choose to take the NSFS certification test at the end of the course.

BLOCK 3

Classes: Theatrical martial arts (TMA), knife, smallsword.

The course focuses on weapons with smaller target areas and stylized movement. Participants that has passed tests in all block 1 and block 2 weapons and with at least 15 hours of previous training with block 3 weapons before the workshop can choose to take the NSFS certification test at the end of the course.

INTERMEDIATE

The intermediate level course is aimed at participants who have passed all 9 weapon in the NSFS certification system and acquired the NSFS Intermediate Fight Performer level. It focuses on expanding the knowledge and skill gained for the 9 weapons within the certification training as well as providing training in additional weapons.  More information about classes to come.
